Art

La Paz, Bolivia

La Paz was by far one of our favorite cities because of all of the arte, the murals and la cultura.  There were muras everywhere, most of which spoke about resistance and about the struggle of indigenous people.  We witnessed protests and actions on the street, but the arte on the walls all over the city kept the spirit of activism present everyday.

Uyuni, Bolivia
by Joanna

There were not very many murals in Uyuni.  This one just stuck out, like most street art it was kind of randomly placed.  It was on a wall in front of a mexican restaurant, but I had to take a picture of it because it's just soo cute! and I love the work.  It's a muxer in typical bolivian attire.  Muxeres who dress like this are usually called "cholitas" she's riding what looks like a picuña.... i looooove it! There was some other art in Uyuni, but I was unable to get good pictures because we were always in a hurry or it was too dark.  The other art in the streets was made from left over pieces of trains from the old railroad system.. there was this really cool one of this muxer pero oh well, missed the picture.
